DFCHL Awards Show

The DFCHL recently concluded it's thirteenth annual awards show ceremony highlighting the game's best, and not so best players. While some of the results were not too surprising, there were a couple of surprise selections at the event.

We'll start with the Hart Trophy, which is given to the most valuable player in the regular season. The list of nominees for the Hart included Adam Hall (NAS), Dany Heatley (TOR), Len Wright (WAS), Rick Litwak (WAS), and Viktor Katzev (ATL). It was a close race between Adam Hall and Dany Heatley, but Adam Hall came out on top. Adam Hall put up 100 points as the lone bright spot on a disappointing Nashville squad. Hall continually gives Nashville a fighting chance game in and game out. For that h...read more.

Dallas looking to come out of a quick rebuild!

The Dallas Stars have made some changes to their front office staff lately, including the hiring of a new interim GM. The first order of business for the new GM was to compile a shortlist of prospects available in the draft to fill-in the missing pieces to a Dallas franchise that has missed the playoffs the past few seasons during the midst of a rebuild.

There were close calls, as he would be the first to tell you, but the end of the story was that he had tested himself against the best and been found wanting.

But when, in early April of 2015, a few former teammates visited that Swiss villa, they fo...read more.

Senators looking to repeat!

The Ottawa Senators are looking to bolster their club as the trade deadline approaches, hoping to pull off a repeat championship.

"We might not be able to keep the core together for too much longer" - Ottawa General Manager

The Senators are roughly $2.5 million below the league's imposed $61 million salary cap. It's believed the club has offered new contracts to many players up for renewal with-in the system. Sniper forward Adam Lozier and bruising defensemen Steve Shultz were tendered offers with marginal raises. Clearing the way for the club to focus on the key signings for next year to get a better idea where they stand. With no major re-signings required this off-season. The Senators are guaranteed atleast ...read more.
